The famous weekend afternoon teas in Temple Balsall have just begun their summer 2014 season. These teas are popular as a walkers’ and cyclists’ refreshment stop. The teas are rightly renowned for the quality of the cakes and scones served. Starting at 2.30pm to 4.30pm every Sunday the season runs until the end of August (NB there will be no service on 20th July due to a private function).

Teas served in the ancient Old Hall at Temple Balsall on summer Sunday afternoons are always popular.
To augment the quality tea service there are also free concerts providing a pleasant way to pass an afternoon in a tranquil setting experiencing a range of different performances.
The first free Sunday concert is on 15th June with Norman Marsden and friends paying a tribute to the Everley Brothers and other artistes from the same era. The second concert on 13th July will be given by the Dorridge U3A Choir and on 10th August Simply Purple will give a performance. The final concert is on 21st September and will feature the Jubilee Singers. All concerts commence at 3pm.
On Saturday 17th May there is a special fundraising concert in St Mary’s church at 7.30pm. Voices of Temple Balsall is a celebration of the Natural World in Words and Music. It will feature readings by Steve Hill, Phil Aspinall and Caroline Johnson. Music will be provided by
Elizabeth Siggs on piano and Norman Ashfield playing the wonderfully restored church organ with singers Heather and Henry Plumptre. Tickets are available from the parish office (tel: 01564 770772), Val Murray (tel: 01564 771755) or boxoffice@templebalsall.org. Each ticket costs £8 if booked in advance and £10 on the door. The price includes a glass of wine after the concert.
Tours and talks on the history of the site can be booked privately and morning coffee, lunch or afternoon tea can be provided on these occasions. Details of prices and any booking enquiries can be made by telephoning The Foundation of Lady Katherine Leveson on 01564 772415.
